True Meaning Behind Your Yoga Asanas
When I say being mindful of the asanas you perform, what I mean is to constantly remember the true essence behind the asanas. Every yoga pose has a deep meaning behind it, and understanding that meaning and keeping it in mind while performing them will change your entire perspective of them. Knowing the true meaning will help you truly understand and connect with the asanas you are performing. For you, yoga will become much more than just moving your body, it will become the way you understand yourself and the world.
These meanings which I talk about represent the essence of that particular asana. What does the asana signify? What are its principles? What is it doing for you? All of these questions are answered and then turned into something which resonates with you. For example, for me, Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) means renewal, gratitude, and birth of a new energy. So, while performing Surya Namaskar, I focus on these meanings, allowing me to fully immerse into the yoga asana.
Remember, the meaning behind the asanas should be something that resonates with you and is chosen by you. There are many yoga asanas, so the meanings of different asanas can be the same.
